Glimpse of Activities of Kutch Navnirman Trust in Kutch

The Kutch Navnirman Trust is Public Charitable Trust registered  under the Public rusts Act on 20/02/2001 with registration number E – 6087.  The KNT is patronized by Ashapura Group of Industries.

The Kutch region of Gujarat has been divested by an unprecedented  earthquake on 26th Jan 2001and therefore with noble vision to help the disaster affected people and with various other objects of general  public utility, this Trust has been stablished. The activities are performed under direction of Mrs. Dinaben C. Shah – Director,  Ashapura Group.

KNT Housing Colony
  • 110 houses have been constructed and donated free of charge to the people who have lost their house in the devasted earthquake. Apart from donating house the Trust is fulfilling its social obligation by doing other social activities at the Colony.
  • In colony Road Lights provided. Permanent solution for water.
  • Ashapura Primary School: where the children of KNT and nearby area are getting education with many curriculum activities. The Martial Art training started for children. Our school is 3rd in Kutch who is providing this training to all children.
  • Asha Ankur Balmandir: The children are learning with fun and games.
  • Asha Gyan Library:  More than 3000 books are there with daily news papers and Magazines.
      
 
Asha Saptak Music Class:
  • This center is well equipped with music instruments for training to the children in vocal and plays the music

    Asha Sarjan Tailoring Class:
  • With a view to help the women this class is run by the Trust .Women are able to generate an income and helpful to the family.

    Asha Anand Toys House:
    •Toys for little children and games which help in increasing the mental ability of children are kept in the Toys House.

    Ashapura Computer Class:
    •A well equipped Computer Class is being run by expert Computer teacher

    The Hiralaxmi Memorial Craft Park
    • With a noble vision to restore, preserve and promote the crafts of Kutch Mr. Chetan Shah- Managing Director of Ashapura group has dedicated this Craft Centre to the public on 18th Dec 2005 in loving memory of his beloved mother Pujya Hiralaxmi Baa.
    • Till date the park has received more than 7.5 lacs visitors. Total sale has crossed the amount of 3.0 crore rupees which directly goes to artisan only. Total 625 artisans have benefited from this place. The Park is playing role in over all development of artisans. In October 2006, an exhibition cum sale was organized at Mumbai where 60 artisans had participated & they had a 60% of total sale.
    Major activities carried-out in the Park.
    • Revival of Mashroo, Kharad & Namda art. Artisan of these crafts now  become independent.
    • Many marginal artisans have started remarkable earning.
    • Active participation with District Rural Development Agency in Ranotsav since last 4 years.
    • Exhibition held at Mumbai & 60% sale of total material, 65 artisans participated in the exhibition.
    • Interaction of activities with EURO Foundations to make women self reliant in interior area of Kutch.
    • Promotion to photography & painting art.
    • Health Awareness program started.
    • Ongoing workshop for self reliance with:-
      • AIDS positive women.
      • Handicapped children.
      • School children.
      • Rural Women.
    • Seminar arranged on weaving by well-known artist Prof. Dinesh Kurekar, trained Kutchi weaver on 3D weaving.
    • Design input started to artisan by expert designer Mr. Kirit Dave.
    • To promote Rural, Performing artist, The Hiralaxmi Memorial Center for Kutchi Folk Music started before two months, the detail of artists is enclosed in separate sheets.
    • NIFD students visited park for research work on craft & many more visited for research.
    • Co-ordination with office of the Development Commissioner - Handicrafts for Artisans I-cards.
    • Under Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Vima Yojna, more than 200 artisans covered under this scheme.
    • The Tourism Dept. Govt. Of Gujarat & Kutch District Administration have notified this place as a major tourist centre of Kutch.
    • Seminar arranged on weaving by well-known artist Prof. Dinesh Kurekar, trained Kutchi weaver on 3D weaving.
    • Design input started to artisan by expert designer Mr. Kirit Dave.

    ITI project
    • “Give a hungry man fish and he is fed for once and teach him how to fish he is fed for all the time”. This saying aptly describes a noble and unique vision of ITI Training. Mr. Chetan Shah has dedicated this humble effort to the students of Kutch for their employment, self employment.
    • With the partnership of Industrial Training Institute and Ashapura Group, free technical training with stipulated stipend is provided to the students in different trades like: Motor Mechanic/Turner/ Fitter/Electrician/Wireman/Welder/Computer/Tailoring/Irrigation etc.
    • Total 1207 students are trained. Ashapura believes that this is an investment in the students which ultimately result in the betterment of the society.
    • The Government of India have noted the efforts and introduced the scheme of Upgradation of existing ITIs under public Private Partnership across the India.

    Airport Beautification
    Beautified an area of nearly 2 acres at Bhuj Airport with garden development maint-enance and land scaping.    

    Restoration Of Historical Monuments
    The trust has restored historical place Nani Ba Vaav at Madhapar which was totally collapsed during the earth quake. Thus the Trust preserves the history also.    
     
    Ashapura Women’s Academy [AWA]
    • They women, who is the spinal code of the family, this project is dedicated to all women of the society with an aim of women empowerment and women education. The dream of Mrs. Dina Chetan Shah actualized on 16th Sept 2008 Monday.
    • Till date total 144 women trained,
    • In near future we will come up with many latest courses for the women of the Kutch.
